6 to 8 Session Nurse Practitioner Vacancy, Looe, Cornwall

The vacancy – We require an enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our friendly busy practice for 6-8 sessions per week.  They will work closely with our well established team of General Practitioners to help provide clinical care and manage acute demand, seeing patients with a variety of undifferentiated conditions.  The role will comprise a mixture of minor illness and chronic disease consulting and home visits, depending on the experience of the candidate appointed.

As a Practice we acknowledge the valuable role of the Nurse Practitioner in General Practice and have a proven track record of working alongside and developing Nurse Practitioner skills. The Practice is willing to support and help develop areas of individual specialist interest and the post holder will have a good work ethic and similar values with a vision and commitment to working in a team.

Applicants will need to have excellent communication/interpersonal skills, have experience working as an autonomous practitioner and hold recognised advanced clinical skills and an independent nurse prescribing qualifications. This is essential enabling them to assess, diagnose, treat and provide advice and care to patients, evaluate the effectiveness of treatments and discharge or refer as appropriate.

The practice – based in Looe, South East Cornwall, Old Bridge Surgery is semi-rural with approx. 9,500 patients. We have a team of 7 GPs in a busy but friendly teaching practice. Our nurse team comprises three nurses, four HCAs, a paramedic and an Advanced Nurse Practitioner as well as the vacant post.

In addition to the main, harbourside, practice, in the charming seaside town of Looe, we have two branches and dispense from one of these. We use Microtest Evolution.

Flexibility and Support – we are willing to consider suitable proposals for working patterns to suit the right candidate and have a culture of education and support for those developing their careers.
